Tell us how you became interested in the University of Rochester. Describe how Rochester matches your educational or career goals, and any meetings you have had with Rochester faculty, staff, students, or alumni.
My mother’s entire family lives in Rochester, and we visit there every year. The University of Rochester is an excellent school with great academic programs. I especially look forward to enhancing my love of history and political science next year. Ever since I became active in this year’s election, I have wanted to increase my knowledge of current events and the history behind them. While I’m not applying to the Eastman School of Music, attending a school with this great music program and participating in any music program here would be a great honor. I want to attend college in a blue state, because I want to be in a part of the country where there are people who are more thoughtful about politics. The campus is beautiful and the snow tunnels are quite possibly the coolest things I have ever seen. Julie Fisher (formerly Petronio), my mother’s cousin, graduated from the University of Rochester in the mid-eighties. My mother has a number of friends who took music lessons at the Eastman School, and friends who have received both graduate and undergraduate degrees here.
